Marcus Mulvey

Name: Marcus MulveyÂ
Stage & Degree: Stage 3 Geography with Placement YearÂ
Role: Events CoordinatorÂ
Key Responsibilities: Essentially, I'm the one tasked with pulling off a great party. Some would call it a p**s-up in a brewery. But there's a lot more to the role than meets the eye. It’s a dynamic mix of B2B communication and event coordination. I liaise with food vendors, book DJs or live music acts, and make sure everything is lined up well in advance. I also work closely with the university to ensure everything runs smoothly on their end. On the day of the event, I’m on-site managing setup and act as the go-to person for troubleshooting.Â
Most Rewarding Aspect of being on the Stu Brew Committee: One of the most rewarding aspects specific to the Events Coordinator role is seeing all the planning, creativity, and behind-the-scenes effort come to life, and watching people genuinely enjoy the event you’ve created. This was especially true for our 10th Birthday Beer Festival. It involved months of preparation and hard work, but seeing it all come together on the day made me feel incredibly proud.Â
Why did you get involved with Stu Brew?I have to thank my second and third-year flatmate, Joe Barlow, for introducing me to Stu Brew. I hadn’t heard of Stu Brew before, but we came across the stall together at the Freshers’ Fair in second year and he thought it looked like a fun thing to get involved in. At first, I mostly joined in for the socials and a few brew days, especially after making some great friends, particularly Damien. Since then, I haven’t looked back, throwing myself in the deep-end with getting involved in the committee.Â
Favourite Stu Brew Beer: Old but gold, it must be Lab Session on Cask.ÂÂ
